In a few weeks I will receive my new Kindle. It will get a separate write-up once I have played with it for a bit, but even though I am looking forward to the gadget, I have done quite a bit of reflecting and musing about the new digital culture.

I am a collector – a pack-rat even. My shelves are stacked with CDs, DVDs, books and video games, in physical form. There were times when I spent a lot of hours and Euros on Ebay, trying to get hold of some older or rarer exemplars that weren’t regularly available any more. If my house had to burn down, no insurance would be able to replace some of the stuff in my collection. I am fond of the quantity, quality and variety that has accumulated over the years. Even though I own an iPod, am using Steam and other download services for games, and will be receiving the above mentioned gadget shortly, I have no intention of going completely digital. Read More
